Walk Boston with confidence
This is a great booklet for seeing parts of Boston that are famous as well as more quiet areas. The maps help lots and the size is convenient to stow away as you do the walks. The photos spruce up the book.
It is endorsed by the ava which has a web site to list more walks

B-17s over Berlin: Personal Stories from the 95th Bomb Group (H)
Published in Paperback by Brasseys, Inc. (April, 1995)
Author: Ian L. Hawkins
Average review score:

The Air War in the Words of the Men Who Lived It
'B-17's over Berlin', edited by the respected British air historian Ian Hawkins, is a collection of stories told by the men of the US 8th Air Force, 95th Bomb Group, about their experiences in World War II. It is a labor of love of the men of the 95th Bomb Group and a fitting tribute to their contributions to the Allied victory over Hitler in the skies over Europe. The 95th is known as the first bomb group to bomb Berlin. Early in the war, Hermann Goring boasted that if Allied bombers ever appeared over Berlin, his name would be Meyer-an obvious anti-Semetic snub. Of course, by the time the B-17's of the 95th appeared over Berlin, Goring had pressing problems of a more serious nature--how to stop the Allies from bombing his cities into submission and how best to produce and allocate his own air resources. This story is told by many different men, divided more or less chronologically and following their progress from training through war's end. The result is an excellent portrayal of life in the 8th, from terrifying missions over Europe to the occurances of everyday life back on the base in England. The book is full of photos carefully chosen by Col. Ed Charles, the 95 Bomb Group's able historian. If a reader wants to get a feel for life in a bomber group during the war, this is the book to read, and I recommend it without reservation.

It's a great read !
This was a true tale of history. As you read this book, you are drafted into active duty serving prouduly in the (ETO). Good bless every member of the 8th Air Force 95th Air Group. They are truly America's Best!

Be a Friend: The Story of African American Music in Song, Words, and Pictures

Fun, Educational and Inspiring
I checked out this book/tape from the library for my children just because it looked interesting. I didn't even listen to it, but when they did, they didn't play another tape for three whole weeks! The book has a short history of each kind of music, and the accompanying tape has an original song written in each style. It is well put together and the tunes are catchy. My kids liked it so much I ended up buying one for them, and I have bought three more for birthday gifts for my kids' friends. I would definitely recommend it!

Great motivational material!
Great songs and music...especially "Brain Power". My students made a real connection with this music. I teach at an inner city school in Tampa, FL. Would love to meet the author. Does he have any other material?

Good Rockin' Tonight: Sun Records and the Birth of Rock 'N Roll
Published in Hardcover by St. Martin's Press (April, 1991)
Authors: Colin Escott, Martin Hawkins, and Peter Guralnick
Average review score:

For the true to heart and those new to great music!
Coming from an age group that barely remembers the days of Sun Studio's most talented performers and songwriters, this book drives home the importance and impact of the many talents that emerged from this Memphis-based shrine.

This is a must read for anone who loves rock-n-roll, blues, jazz, or just wants to learn more about the hardships, the triumphs and the many lessons learned in the music industry.

Many top idols are present, but what makes the book such a worthwhile reading are the writings on those less known. My hats off to a true tribute for the sounds and artists of the south!

The definitive history of the definitive indie label.
Have you heard the news? Good Rockin' Tonight is the encyclopedia for all fans of Sam C. Phillips' groundbreaking Memphis Recording Service and Sun/Phillips International labels. Colin Escott and Martin Hawkins, whose expert commentaries appear in the liner notes of many Sun CD reissue packages, deliver thorough accounts of the players and events in the Sun story. Full chapters are devoted to Sun's best-known players (Sam Phillips, Carl Perkins, Jerry Lee Lewis, Johnny Cash, and Elvis Presley) and the landmark events (the recording of Rocket 88, the arrival of Howlin' Wolf, and the birth of Rockabilly), but the real highlight is the attention to the lesser-known players like Joe Hill Louis, Scotty Moore, Sonny Burgess, Billy Riley, and Roland Janes. They didn't top the charts, but were as important to the creation of the "Sun Sound" as Perkins, Lewis, Cash and Presley were to its export outside the Memphis city limits, and in Good Rockin' Tonight they receive the recognition they deserve. Escott and Hawkins round out the Sun story with a complete discography of all the Sun and Phillips International singles, EPs and LPs released while both labels were active.

Sun was the first powerhouse independent record label of Rock & Roll music. It's catalogue, performed by rough-edged musicians who turned out consistently innovative material and a Top Ten hit here and there, has been exhaustively reissued over the past ten years, much to the delight of Sun connoisseurs. Sadly, the same can't be said of material written about Sun: most of the books (several also written by Escott and Hawkins) are now out of print. Good Rockin' Tonight stands alone as the most comprehensive work dedicated to Sam Phillips and the record label whose influence on popular culture deserves much more.

Meet the God of the second chance
This is simply the finest commentary on the life of Jonah the Prophet I have ever read. It is a great tool for teachers, preachers, or those participating in family devotionals. The insights are very deep but made easy to understand due to Dr. Hawkine keen insight, knowledge and wisdom of the Holy Scriptures. This is one book you will want to read over and aver again and will never grow old due to it's timeless truths.

Profound insight into Jonah's life and the Christian's.
This was the easiest book to understand and it "wowed" us. I used it as a devotional for our family. Our 12 year old son loved it! I want more like this!!!
